Burger Diaries: Nor’East Treats – A Sweet Surprise in an Unexpected Spot

I finally made it to Nor’East Treats, a hidden gem located inside a car dealership — yes, really. This small diner in Charlotte, NC is a family-owned burger spot serving up big flavors with even bigger hospitality. From the moment you walk in, it feels like you’re in someone’s home kitchen, and that’s part of its charm.

I went with their signature Vermont Maple Farm Burger, a must-try for anyone hunting down the best burgers in Charlotte. This burger featured two juicy 4 oz beef patties, sharp cheddar cheese, crispy bacon (though I like mine a little crunchier), and a perfectly cooked fried egg. What really stood out was their house-made onion aioli, made with all-natural maple syrup. I asked for it on the side — mistake! The sweet-and-savory combo would’ve taken the burger to the next level if I had just gone all in.

The burger itself was solid and flavorful, though I think a bit more seasoning on the patties would’ve taken it from good to great. Still, the balance of textures, the richness of the egg, and the sweetness from that maple aioli made this a unique burger experience. And honestly? I’d slather that sauce on some pancakes without hesitation.

If you’re looking for local burger joints in Charlotte, or just love discovering unexpected places to eat, Nor’East Treats deserves a spot on your list. Minus the bacon crisp factor, it’s definitely a place I’d return to for another round.
