Eggs have a 2:30-3:00 PM cutoff for me, so when I found myself at IHOP in the middle of the day, I skipped the breakfast menu and went for the Cowboy Burger fries on the side, plus two pancakes because, balance.
The Burger Breakdown

First off, the onion ring? A crispy, golden masterpiece. Seriously, it was the best part. It had that perfect crunch-to-bite ratio, and I wish there had been more of them. The burger itself? A little underwhelming. The patty needed more seasoning, and while I know I asked for the BBQ sauce on the side (because BBQ belongs on wings, don’t @ me), that shouldn’t mean a flavorless burger. The bun was soft, the cheese melted nicely, but overall, it needed something extra to bring it to life.
The fries? Surprisingly good! Crisp on the outside, fluffy on the inside, and well-seasoned”exactly how fries should be. They actually outshined the burger, which isn’t t something I say often. The pancakes, though? A solid move. Soft, fluffy, and just what I needed to round out the meal. IHOP knows how to do pancakes, and adding them to my burger order was a decision I don’t regret.
More Than Just a Meal
IHOP will always have a special place in my heart. Growing up, it was a Sunday tradition with my family pancakes, omelets, and bottomless coffee, all shared over conversations with my mom. Walking into an IHOP still brings back those memories, even if the food doesn’t always hit the mark.
Would I order the Cowboy Burger again? Not without asking for extra seasoning. But IHOP? It’ll always be worth the visit.
